Here's a recap of 2006 racing goals with results. It may seem bit braggish however it's my personal family race diary & a learning tool. So here goes.
My goals this year we're:
Goal: Road training earlier build solid base:
done, started in January and stayed at it.
Goal: More F training, include SS:
SS on road after base gave great force ability, SS on dirt is so fun!! Raced SS alot.
Goal: Do not overtrain/avoid getting hurt, have fun:
had a ball, did not overtrain or get sick, however I did race a little soon after Leadville, not good mentally or recovery wise(learning)... I did get a hernia in May/June.....hereditary, not sure if bike related. Raced all season with it, op Dec 1. Fun, are you kidding, it was blast, Levis, Rock Lake, Leadville, all the racing!
Goal: Support family balance, and them to enjoy racing:
Duncan, 17 races, 15 podiums and 5 wins, 2nd overall mnscs age.
Amy got hurt but recovered and met season goals finishing 2 races and 1 podium
Alta broke leg and couldn't race this year!
Leo got a great taste and wants to race more.
I'm still happily married, I call it a family balance success story.
Goal: Figure out fuel rel. to Leadville:
I know my fuel needs, happy w/knowlegde gains. No cramps at Leadville.
Goal: MNSCS Comp class, some top 5 overalls, top 3 age series: 24 races(8 mnscs), 11 podiums(6mnscs, 3hillside, 2buck), 6 age wins, 1 overall ages win (Kato Comp Class), 2 3rd place overall ages (Red Wing/DuLac Comp class), 1st place Comp overall MNSCS age group
Goal: Leadville 100(dream 9hrs, realistic finish, expected 10hrs):
9hrs 44minutes, very happy, next year sub 9
Goal: Afton solo (top 3 result):
abandon goal, too close to Leadville
Goal: Race more this year, race Buck races for fun :
24 races, raced Buck 9 times(one Rec Men win and a sweet top 10 Expert result)
