Not Quite Hooky

Wouldn't it be nice to get up at 6am then in 10 degree weather bike the lakes? Since transporting change to street clothes, extra bike clothes, pug tube, fuel, pump, tools, & all water......do it on bike loaded half as much as this gal. Wouldn't that be nice? Still then, continue to Ft Snelling and over Mendota bridge as sun rises bright? What about then going south to 494 bridge, avoid, continue south on pilot knob past 35E to Leb? Nice, NO? Change gloves in the sun in empty leb lot; head in for laps on PUG you pedal? Wouldn't tit rule? As hands finally warm again realize u gotz 2.5hrs more in the woods? Grand? 4.5 hrs outdoors in 10-20 degrees surviving seemed perfect challenge to me. Finally, get picked up for lunch eat a chicken breast sandwich like it was a pea. Once home build a set of 29'er wheels w/your friend as payment for ride. While legs signal deep vibes, vacumn the whole house, load dishes, clean counters, grab kids sleds at Zilla's, & work on sled course w/kids. Wouldn't be nice?!!

Hillside COMMANDO PUG Fest 08

The 1st annual PUG Fest Race couldn't have been better. Near 30 degrees, 20+ PUGS, 76 racers total, kids & spectators having good times. The race itself was a frick'n snow march. The snow was soft from near 3 inches new a few days prior. The snowmobile efforts did a little yet generally course was 1-4 inches of mash. If you know Hillside you know how the 20-40 foot hills are many. Try jogging all them with a mountian bike or a PUGSLEY! Hardcore. Like I said, couldn't have been better. Those whom lift weights or commando that sorta style did well.
My Dad broke his chain, Duncan was too sick to race. Amy and Teel did just fine spending an hour out there before calling it good. Janna won womens, and Jessica finished the tough race in style. Alta and Leo sledded until cold. Nami, Rick and even Rene come out! By the way my Dad was the oldest racer so he got a mug. Look at the name on the mug, how did they get that right????
My race was swell. Happy to come out in the money. I hammered off the start going for hole shot, got it. Led most lap 1 pretty convicingly. Don't get me wrong, was working way hard. Literally much running with 25% of my body weight being PUG bike-a-push. It was taxing & kept wondered how Larry & Jimmay we're fairing behind. I knew Larry's plan & still pushed ahead trying to create the biggest gap. Anyway, weight & commando style took it's toll... I started fading thinking about how long could actually keep pace. Larry caught me at start of lap 2 when I almost went OTB's leaving bike in snow 10 ft behind....he had his chance. I let Sargent FG go by (instead of hopping on and blocking). Was able to stay on wheel until mid sec 4, lap 2. That's where the running uphill w/PUG really got me. Cramps we're beginning to twinge. By section 1 it was cramp management, Josh caught me. I was able to get really close to him in sec 2 before finish a few times but cramping with each effort. There it is. Larry #1, Josh #2 & 3rd for me 25 seconds off 2 place. Not bad. Jimmay kicked butt strong 4th. Other Pictures Results VIDEO Later all!!

Walker Theo School 2pin Cold Purple Pug

Run on thoughts.... I like climbing Kenwood/Walker Art Center area hills w/PUG, laps. Results. Also PUG on road is darn hard steady state, call it tempo time. School full on, 2 mba classes, trying to bike there & back as often as possible. Purple PUG was a score for Grey Squirrel, glad I jumped Craig's list fast. Saw 2pin at Theo today. Didn't know it was him til I followed his PUG tracks to him, a whole new trail area today. Sweet, thanks 2pin! This eve biked to a dinner partay, met Keith, Micah, & Jack, we lapped about Theo area including snowboard hill. Twas ZERO degree F' out w/strong winds, lasted an hour out there. Legs are back again. Out.

Secret Meal Replacement

Laced up some new 29'ers. They will be my bombproof commuter & pounders. Note meal replacement bar. Yes chocolate covered rarity. Soon will back off sugar season. On yet another note, did secret training today, others we're pond racing. How'd that go?
