Happy 15th Anniversary to Amy & I. We went to NYC w/o the kids for a long weekend!! We did it all. Subway to Soho, Grenwich, Little Italy, Chinatown, Ferry Boat to Statue of Liberty, hours at Central Park on Bikes, Food, Food, Food, Drink, Drink, Drink, subway back to Airport....what else....Chicago Musical, Times Square Hotel, Shopping.

Buck#6 - Series Final

That was fun. Sandy, loose and riddled with sketch was how the final race played out. Off the start goal was to ease out and not go for broke. I hit the woods in 5th where Chris scketched and Luke went by him. At the water tower hill I went by Scott and pretented like Chris and Luke we're in reach. Nope. On lap two my chian sucked into the spindle area, the up shift trick didn't work. I had to get off and pull the chain out. Dave and Barry flew by. Jesse got by later. Back in the woods gathered steam and started to fly. DOWN! Yup, front tire slid out while going mock. I did catch Barry and after some back and forth, passed and then went after Jesse fast. NO GO, went down again hard! Got up, all good. Barry caught me. We rallied together with John in sight behind... I was able to sprint in for finish just ahead of Barry for 7th. I scored 3rd OVERALL in the six race series!! Check out the goofball pic for my bike store sponsor Behind Bars. Ha ha.

WORS#4 SUBARU CUP

Setbacks end good in the long run right? My first WORS race didn't go as planned yet was to be expected. The last two blog post hint various time priority distractions of late... The Race: After Don said "go!" I snuk up the side into 15th or so. As we climbed began to settle on my place. Then Paul went by and said something like, "let's roll" to Jay. I cranked it up and followed him to near top ten? That was silly!! Jay was near as was Ben. Later into the woods after another climb noticed still panting way too much. I followed Jay for a bit then started to sagg bad on the next climbs. The course had a mix of single track and more flat 4 wheeler type trail. Although 80 deg. temps and humid go well with me, lap 2 & 3 we're a misery of slow time. I was passed by 20+ riders. Somewhere into 3rd lap decided getting a missing multi-hour ride in and enjoying was good. I was called an "old man" earlier only to pass the friendly commenter later. I'd guess lap 4 & 5 passed perhaps 20 to end 31st of 75 male Elites. Finished, twas the goal for 1 point. Camping was stellar fun!! Later...

Buck#5 all 5 Present

The whole family made it out for Buck#5. Amy and Duncan raced two laps. Leo did circles with other kiddo's and Alta had fun running laps instead of using the bike. She wasn't into the kids race. It's Summer and the kids are out of school!! I'm not, still taking classes working torward an MBA at St. Thomas. Don't let Duncan's mo-hawk mis-lead you, he's straight A's...every class every semester. Anyway, fun for all of us. Great after race crowd as ussual to0. My race went ok. I went into Afton race with sore arms from the new Wii. Ask me about my boxing skills!! At Buck last night I wasn't sore from Afton but tired as School, work and all has me taxed. With only 20min on bike since Afton did better than expected. The Race FMPOV: off the start pedaled normal and was leading for a few feet again! Silly me....but it feels fine. I went into the woods behind Brendan, Cory, Chris and Luke. Although a few gaps I was able to bridge close to Luke & Chris. Chris let Luke go by & I charged with Chris through lap 1. Barry caught us, Chris and Barry pulled away. Lap 2/3 I was barley able to hold Dave off. By end of lap 3 feeling stronger, hammered a gap on Dave. By end of lap 4 got within 20 seconds of Barry and Chris. I saw Chris sneak to a finish in front of Barry, then rolled in for 6th..... WORS Sat., back Sat night for all day Sun w/family. Squirrel Tri-Fecta Finish at AFTON

Grey Squirrel finished 60+ catagory in 2nd. SQRL Jr. finished 13-15 age in Cit 4th & I,R.S., age 42, led w/o blockage Expert pack off start to 13th, 3rd age. Squirrel Tri. Good LCR/FARM showing, fun BBQ at FG's post.

Hail Hail Old Man Winter is Back

Ok not Winter but why is the ground all white? And why is my siding, roof, cars and hastas all toast? Golf Ball size no lie. Makes good ice in the drinks... Watch the video!!

Buck #4

Although tornado sirens we're blaring at 5:30pm Pat remained calm taking in blackberry, team member, and eye to the sky data points. The thunder cell passed and not much rain fell. The team and racers said let's race, and that's what we did!!! Only a few rain drops on racers. The kids race afterward was a rain fest. Pat stood out there and cheered them on!! After awards I went up and personally thanked Pat for the event and supporting the kids race in the rain.

The race from MPOV: With an hour of hill work earlier in the day on the legs, still had a good race. 29'er SS is so fun, just can't shut up about it! Off the start I was leading up the hill. It was quite odd as it took a while for Brendan, Chris and finally Ben to catch up. Once they hit the woods I hammered hard to stay with them. Scott was behind looking to bridge. Up on water tower climb they pulled away. My goal was to not let Scott catch me, he never did. I did catch Chris when his bike had string clogging the gears, he removed. Chris and I went back and forth for last three laps. I think he was toying with me. On the last water tower climb he rocketed, never caught him and finished 30 seconds behind him in 4th.
