RED WING XC "sport start video of under 29 class, pic of my Dad too). Nice pic of Duncan at skinnyski.com D-man made the highlights. We all had good races. Duncan and I went single speed. I scpored 7th for cash payout, wahoo. My race was good but 32x20 gearing too spinny for prolouge. By the time I passed a group of 5 the rest of the speedsters we're off. I saw them a few time but basically in nomads land the whole humid race. MONDAY CLIMBING "climbing with family and Andy" It rained a bit yet we climbed multiple routes that we're dry enough. Look at mom climb again. It's been 15+ years. I was able to onsight crank-n-go-go 10d off the couch. Nice. Check out great pics of climb here .. it looked different but it's the same climb. http://www.mountainproject.com/v/minnesota/barn_bluff_red_wing/perfect_crimb_area/105826082 CANOE FISHING WEDNESDAY "Leo with the big catch" I once again woke Leo early and we fished. I paddled alot on lake Mntka. He caught one!! BUCK HILL THURSDAY AGAIN me and the boys hit it for good times. Had a good race on the single speed 34x18 29'er. Hammered the finish to edge out two for 5th.

5 Hours in a Week!

Today I got on the road bike for a tad over an hour. It's been months since I've gone old school 700cc. It was windy so decided why not. I felt strong. Check it, 2 hours at leb, 1 hour on road and maybe a race this weekend...I might hit 5 hours this week!! It's been weeks of sub 5. Time to ramp up the fun again. Check out this bike for sale. Really really funny. Worth the click i swear. http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/1818360923.html

Two Leb Laps

Did 2 laps at Leb for a swell mid-week ride. I haven't been there for at least a month. A few new rocks and dirt settling creates higher rock features. Other than said rocks & annoying log-ups trail was city path like, cement. Trail will probably start cracking soon! Something not right about that. Too groomed. Anyway it was a good ride & by lap two loosened up nicely on rigid ss. Long rides & 3 races in next 10 days..... I found this enjoyable.... http://www.mtbmovies.com/movies.php?id=354

Buck Lucky #7

Ain't nothing lucky really. I show up & race, consistently. Mud at DuLac, Afton also on SS, hot or cold weather it's show-n-go. Similiar & expected results year to year race to race. What ever the sport - climbing, running gates boarding or skiing it's a very very rare day if not tracking.

Buck last night with newly laced wheels & furious fred tires was all good. Off the start I settled in behind lead pack. I saw Jack, Doug, & Nate causing battles up dirt hill with others. I didn't panic or worry. Instead went up dirt then up pavement at my comfy race pace.

Later in lap 1 I reeled in a few and passed on dirt climb. From that point on I chased Fisher for 3 laps. I was chased by Nate, Barry, John, Charlie & Dan for 3 laps. Many time pack got close & I kept seeing them....

I was running scared but saved most energy for climbs and went smooth but forceful in single track. The Furious Fred's, new wheels, Misfit Psycles and climbing plan worked well. 5th on SS, 51.5m. Jack & Doug dropped out and Brendan didn't show. I heard schedule conflict & big race weekend may be the reasonings.

Duncan kicked but on his Misfit Psycles (like Dad's) set up all natual SINGLE SPEED! He passed many on hills. He improved his time a few minutes and moved up many places. Field reports from fans shared he looked strong. Most importantly the kid loved the SS set up and having fun!!

Buck Saturday Fish Sunday Father

Buck Hill was typical, except, lightning & miracle of near miss thunderstorm line. The race went on. Lap 1 felt slow, lap 2 & 3 surprisingly fast, lap 4 on a thread. I think finished 7th? Look on right for results.
Saturday I wanted to climb but no go. Instead I woke up at 5:30am. Hit the quickie mart for supplies then woke up Leo & cousin from Sandpoint Idaho. Fishing lake Indy by 7AM. I was the canoe tour guide paddling, baiting hooks, and rapala's. Good work out.
Saturday laced a rear wheel. Saturday night a cousin grad party then Micah n Jessicah's open house til midnight, with kids. Leo finally cashed after 18 hrs. Sister in law picked up in N.E. 12:30am then home. Sun. morning built the front wheel. Then family party again. All Amy's siblings, 4x, n parents all in town for rare family times.
Oh, by the way sapim areo spokes, stans crest & white industry hubs rule at 1600 gr. w/o skewers. Laced em myself SS! My first new set since my ameri-calassic 3yr old wheels. Hmmm haven't biked since Buck. On track for typical 5 hr training weeks....can't complain...............................

MudFlanker

DuLac was awesome. Not PeaSoup, not Peanut butter, more PlayDo. Red Clay molding on chain stay, seat stay and tires so bad it was huck a bike, not hike-a-bike. Loved it. When they called the race mid-lap 2 I was bummed cause I was pacing for another epic long haul(wanted 3 laps). So far this year the longer and more effort the better I do. All good. The trail was red clay of holes, every climb was post holed of molded slippery foot punches. Grass, sticks and what not was clogging so bad my rear wheel would not turn. Water hole and pea soup spots were limited (they helped free the wheel). Anyway as others talk about grany gear my SS was stuck in middle ring. Otherwise no chain suck, ever! 2.2 mud collector tires :) Duncan had the best day running his chain and derailuer stuck rear wheel up back side and down the front hill to finish. The comp/expert and pro corraled riddlers cheered him on. Me the proud papa! He ran his but off to finish mid-sport pack and a mere 7 seconds ahead of his age group competition for 1st on poudium!! Good time with team as well after made for a geat day!!!!! skinnyski pics . Dana's Smug . Dana's Rock! I have link on right for these photo peeps. Results MN Race Series.
