Jealous

We took the kids to a hotel water park last night, Grand Rios. Anyway the water slides are actually quite fun. My eyes hurt from pool clorine. Some people get to have all the fun. No biking for me, homework. Only 3 small papers and a powerpoint then done with this class!! MBA distractions are cramping my biking style. Go girls!!

Gals Do, and HR vs. Speedo

First, Duncan is A'ok. He's back to normal routine. Amy, Teel, Nami, & Sheila have been biking quite a bit actually. Good to see the ladies ripp'n it up. Even Amy has been out multiple times. Dirt, to work & round the lakes....it's all good!! Amy, Teel & I did a night ride after bbq fun recently it was super awesome cause it was so warm out! Ok so I've been doing alot of "road" biking instead of "MTB Road." This is way different than last year. The roadie has a speedo. The speedometer makes it easy to track miles. But I still dislike the speedo, cause I always look at it when I'm tired....it does not motivate. I suppose average speed motivates me. Now, heart rate motivates me! When I see constant values near 90% I go go go. I love to push my motor...it motivates more than speed anyday. At least in training stage. That's it. I'll probally race 29'er SS at hillside for force training. It's gonna hurt enduro style! Duncan's in too.

Duncan Racer Update

Duncan has/had pnenoumia. Yeah, this last week really freaked us out. No school all week. Sunday, 7th day, the 2nd batch of antiboitics finally started working. After 7 days his fever finally stayed at or below 101! Whew.Other than some coughing Duncan seems over it, back to School Tuesday. So that's it, the attached video was the most Duncan did all week. Amy's parents brought us a piano..... We did some distracted biking on cruise control. Tough week, nothing really mattered but Duncan. Later. I'll eloborate on the gals biking progress next post. Duncan & I will see you at Hillside & Buck races soon.

29'er vs. 26 inch

Recently I rode my new 29'er Single Speed rigid, 1st time on dirt. I'm short. Forget what you have heard. I'm sold. At first I felt higher, that went away in 2 minutes. I didn't notice any sluggishness or handling issues. By my watch was as fast or faster than last year lap time. Flying!! I absolutly noticed bigger wheel over obstacles. Rocks & obstacles are barely there, total rule. Yeah I had to incline the bike or my body a bit, something, whatever yet I swear...I adjusted w/o thinking about it. I love 29'er!!!! Given my strengths & pref., my FS will be a 29'er next year too. That's all I have 2 say.

MY ROADIE FAUX PAS

Saturday was a good ride day, my 2nd time on road bike all year. 3 hours in early AM, 2hrs later w/my Dad & Todd. Anyway..... My inappropriate presentation was the joke of the AM road ride. Below is a list of road bike Faux Pas and my defense/justification in parentheses. My Roadie FAUX PAS: -My camelback (they stopped to refill liquids, I was fine) -My windbreaker & layers, called "parka" (warm, zipper options) -Saddle bag too big (stored tools, treats, all utilized by the others) -Neck gators, un-appealing (I like gator warmth & bright grn color!) -Helmut 2 big, duck tape, visor (kept sun out of my eyes & comfy) -Shorts over tights MTB'ish (inner thighs get cold in early AM wind) -Chopper gloves funny looking (my hands we're warm!) -Learning about 2 toe warmers in each bootie (if they only knew I had MTB boot shoes on!) -Rear tire lift-over move to straighten out at stoplight (laughed about it being a MTB move) -Many more infractions I can't remember I'm surprised I didn’t get a hard time about my egg beater pedals. I almost put on a back pack loaded with misc goods and weight, that would have been good!! Anyway, I had no problem on the ride regardless of so called infractions.... With all these faux pas no wonder roadies, MTB'ers, and single speeders all give each other a hard time. I didn't know of all these dress code rules. It's the discriminating evidence which always brings out the best in people. Oh well, it was all in good fun for us. We all simply ride right?
