3 2 1 Blast-Off !!!

Duncan is a teenager!! Lot's and lots going on this holiday weekend..... With just a 2 hour window Saturday decided to invite family to go biking instead of just my selfesh bad self. Duncan and his litle bro took me up on the offer. We biked the legion single track way to wirth paved path then 55 to Theo loop start. We did a full Theo loop. Leo, the little bro is the spinner. He had no problem, went over every plank and log roll out there with cement curb the only exception. Too bad Alta and Mom didn't join. Sunday I hooked up with Bianchi and a Grand Performance gang of 4, 75 miles later I all good. Monday, it's D-days B-day. It was clean the house, b-day party and below......run run run "where is it"..... good times. 4 with no loss.

Buck #3

My 29'er SS rocks, same misfit psycles ss bike as last year. Anyway, nice job all ! Results in picture, I see results on Penn site now too. The Race from MPOV: Straight off scary start Sandbox and Sieben started boxing me in, somehow escaped. Then there was a wild pedaling guy in a white-ish jersey(h-wood team?). Sam & I we're caught behind watching as he stood throwing bike from left to right pedaling for the tour win. Into the woods he faultered causing Sam and I to slow. The reason I think he was h-wood team is because he pushed Sam as he got going again. Must have known each other? Sam just said, thanks, mellow-like what ever. After wild guy went OTB on log we never saw him again. I chased hard after Sam and intern lead me nearer to the lead group. Sam passed Luke. At the top of the water tower climb, I saw all-of'em go into da woods, then fell off pace. From there it was un-eventful until Dave O finally caught & passed on water tower climb, lap 4. I was able to coast in from there as no one was too close behind. The single speed was fun as all get out and didn't slow me down until perhaps later in the race.....til next time.

Buck #2

Basically same story. Buck is a blast for everyone all ages. Course is less dusty than last year & fun to hammer through. Great lung buster training. My Race Recap: behind lead group into woods in good position but couldn't keep pace, top group still eludes me, darn it!! A second group caught me by lap 3 then began to gap them (John S, Jesse R, Jason W & Dave O). Then a stick in rear wheel caused me to totally dismount to remove. Still in lead of group gapped’em a few more times to be thwarted by traffic each time. Wenk passed on latter traverse. I held close to his wheel, in the end both Jason & Dave got me by a few feet in final sprint. That’s ok last few races I had the end burst. 10th of 59 Advanced. See you next week!!

MNSCS#1

Great day for a race! Bummer family opted out. Mom was way busy at flower shop all week. The night before race we attended a house party, friends and kiddo's. The kid's and Ma let off some stress. We arrived home past 11:30pm. Needless to say late night combined with rain and Duncan with a cold...no fam, just me at mnscs#1. YET, my Dad raced Citizen and did quite well!! He really wanted revenge on his grandson, it appears he took it out on the competition. He passed many and finished ahead of 14 peeps, medaled with a second in age. Way to go Grey Squirrel!! With warm up distraction my starting position, 3rd row. With 15 in each row it was NOT a normal start for me. I was trapped and couldn't do my normal attack. My position was 25th or so around water tower. Finally after start finish area recovery was good and I hammered hard passing 8+ before single track, including an bummer crash between Jay and Joel. Wadup w/dat?

I was soon in better position charging a pack led by hwood. I caught and passed a few. Hey Tri did i look good on a bike like that? Many comments about my pretty bike.....all good, all funny. Anyway I went back and forth with Matt Kurke as we chased hwood.

By lap 4 Matt had passed and I couldn't quite hang. A pack of at least 7, with Jan leading, was charging hard to catch me. Late in lap 4 after a sketch of sorts they caught me. I managed to hold them off and gap them a little in the last woods. I was able to hold all but Jan through start finish and back into the single track for lap 5.

All of lap 5 Jan and I battled, was it 4 or 6 total passes? The pack was right there waiting for us to pop. A very hard effort got me into the last woods ahead of the pack again. Finish in mind, plan was to muster enough strength & lead pack to the finish. That last bit of pavement & finish stretch is long after 5 laps!! I gave it, led the whole pack in for 3rd in age, 13th of 45 overall. Way faster than last year....... My pic from skinnyski. My Pops from Dana. Grizzly has some up, also new picture links on mnscs site. See link on right side of page. Later..

Buck #1

Shadduupp Jimmay!
Fun race. Interesting start and was with the leaders longer than ussual. Sam did ask to go by and I obliged. My goal, and hard to do sometimes, is to start my ussual too fast but not be a blocker. Once Sam went by my position was solid between leaders and next group. Tom was behind for a while gathering his plan, but soon passed. It wasn't until start of lap 3 that John and Jesse passed on either side showing me the double pickle pass up the road. By the later parts of lap 3 I caught back up and was strong enough to get by both by start of lap 4. I held strong and actually got stronger torward the end. Results attached. cheers all.
